Sujit Choudhry’s Take on Spain and Catalonia

Sujit Choudhry is a Professor of Law at the California University, Berkeley School of Law. Recently,he was the Cecelia Goetz Professor of Law at New York university. He also serves as the School’s Chair at the University of Toronto. When it comes to authority on relative constitutional law and politics he internationally recognized. Mr. Sujit has had talks in over twelve countries; he possesses a wide range of research agenda with in-depth field knowledge. For over two decades, Mr. Choudhry has served as the constitutional advisor in a number of contexts like ceasefires and drafting of reports concerning conditions of violence related to politics. The plea

Sujit Choudhry wrote an open letter to both the Catalan and Spanish administrations concerning the disaster in Catalonia that pleaded both sides to participate in talks. He was assisted by together three other law experts, including Zoran Oklopcic who serves at the Department of Law and Legal Studies in University of Carleton. The scholars addressed that Catalonian President Puigdemont should demonstrate his commitment to secede from Spain. These scholars have a belief that its best for the president and can be achieved by him arranging a talk that will affirm the needs of Catalan citizens. The letter also summoned Prime Minister Rajoy of Spain to agree to the reality that secession is by far the thing many Catalan citizens want and to desist from doing something against their desire. The letter addressed that the referendum presented troubles for constitutional order of Spanish.
